Product Reviews / NuNaturals Stevia Drops / Mini Measuring Cup / Soup Ladle

Some months back the people at NuNaturals sent me a box of Stevia sweetener products to try. I was not paid to do this review but I did receive the products for free. The timing was perfect since I had already made the decision to get artificial sweeteners out of my diet. Stevia is extracted from a natural herb. It contain no calories and does not raise blood sugar levels.

I had tried other brands of Stevia powder in the past and I had found that if I used even a little too much it created a bitter taste in my coffee or yogurt. I am happy to say that I have not had any bitter after taste from the NuNaturals brand of Stevia sweeteners. If you have tried Stevia in the past and didn’t like it I would highly recommend the NuNaturals Stevia products.

My favorites from NuNaturals are the Vanill Stevia Alcohol Free drops, the mellow flavor is great in my Greek yogurt, oatmeal, smoothies or a cup of hot tea. The clear stevia drops are used daily in my morning coffee. The drops go a long way, dissolve instantly and have no bitter aftertaste! I absolutely love them!

They also make a baking blend but since I have cut way back on baking I have yet to try the baking blend. I do plan on doing some baking in the next month so I will post about my experience using Stevia when it happens.

Where to purchase

I have seen the NuNaturals products at Whole Foods. You can also order directly from the company website by clicking on this link NuNaturals. There you will also find the directions on how to order a free sample of the Stevia packets to try.

Itty Bitty Measure Cup

I love miniature dishes, baskets and serving pieces, they are so darn cute! Not only is this XOXO mini measuring cup cute but it is very useful! It measures up to 4 tablespoons or 2 ounces. I bought it during the summer at Bed Bath & Beyond and I use it all the time! I really should get a second one as I find myself having to hand wash it because I want to use it all the time. It’s perfect for measuring out the small amount of olive oil and vinegar when making salad dressing.

A Measure cup and a serving ladle all in one!

While browsing the kitchen utensils at Bed Bath & Beyond if happened across this serving ladle that is also a measuring cup. This is perfect for measuring out soup portions with out dirtying a separate measuring cup. I find myself using it often. It has markings for 1/4 cup, 2 oz, 1/2 cup and 4 oz.

Nutmeg Notes

It was a busy weekend around our house and I don’t feel like we had much down time or relaxation over the weekend. We got in some walking, hubby Tom did some yard work. There was a farewell party to attend for friends who are moving away, lunch out Sunday and dinner with a group of friends Sunday night! I did well with my food choices but am looking forward to regular home cooked meals this week that include lots of vegetables and fruit!

I have some exciting news to share!

Daughter Katy has decided to come home from Spain for her winter break! Yippee!  She is so looking forward to home cooked meals and she gave me a list of meals and treats she hopes I will cook for her while she is home. I had better make some things ahead of time and freeze them so we don’t have to spend all of our time in the kitchen while she is home.

Grandma and Grandpa sent Katy a package that she received last week. Thanks to the helpful hints that were shared here about shipping cookies, Grandmas cookies arrived in perfect condition! She opted for the method of putting two cookies back to back and wrapping them with saran wrap and then layering them with bubble wrap, placing them in a box inside the shipping box! Thanks to everyone who shared their shipping tips and hints with us!

Yesterday hubby Tom and I packed another care package to send to Katy so I am headed out to the post office to get it on it’s way. It takes about 9 days for a package to go from CA to Spain. Not too bad I guess when you consider the distance it has to travel. It should help her make it until Winter break!

That stevia stuff is intriguing. Now that I am drinking hot tea again I am rethinking my use of artificial sweeteners. My son just booked his flights home for winter break too:) Gadgets… I have a measuring spoon that you slide so that it is one spoon for many measures.

    1. Tami says:

Karen I have one of those kind of measuring spoons too. I think I got it at a Pampered Chef party years ago.

  2. Carol says:

I have never tried Stevia mainly because someone told me it left such a bitter after taste. I’m waiting for Truvia to come here. Not too sure if we can get the NuNatural drops here. Wonder if maybe at a HF store?

Love your little measuring cup! My sister always finds me cute little cooking things.

Weight Watchers has serving ladles/measuring sppons & I love them. The biggest one measures out a cup and works great for soup, stews & chili.
My favorite gadget in the kitchen is my immersion blender…it has a container for chopping nuts, etc.

Wonderful news about Katy coming home for her winter break! When will she arrive & for how long! Your holidays are going to be even more special now! Great on the cookies arriving unbroken!

    1. Tami says:

Carol I would look at their web site and see if they have a store locator. If not check at your Health Food Stores.

I have a Braun Immersion blender and although I don’t use the blender part I do use the mini food chopper attachment all the time!

Katy will come home the week before Christmas and she will be home almost 3 weeks! Long enough to get pampered!

      We are very excited.

Your shipping story reminds me of summers when I used to send fresh fruit to my daughter from CA to Philadelphia. She loves white nectarines and never found them in Philly, (and the fruit in general was overpriced and not very good.) I would go to the farmers market on Thursday evening, pack up the fruit in paper and bubble wrap in a Priority Mail box and send it Friday. She would have it Monday without fail and the fruit was usually in perfect shape and nice and ripe!

    1. Tami says:

I too live in CA and we have some of the best produce available. Katy tells me we should never move because we don’t know how good we have it here!

  4. fittingbackin says:

Very cool! I know you’re thrilled to have her home for the holidays!!

I love kitchen gadgets – my favorites are probably my cheese slicer, flexy mix bowls and my garlic press!!

    1. Tami says:

I love my garlic press too! I don’t know how I would get along with out most of my kitchen gadgets!

  5. Sharon says:

I’m going to try the NuNatural drops. I’m trying to cut back on my coffee consumption (this is tough, but I drink too much and with winter coming on, I tend to drink even more) and substitute hot tea. I don’t like using artificial sweetener in tea, but honey adds too many calories. Thanks for the review.

Love the measuring spoon ladle thingy. Tish had one and I’ve been meaning to get one ever since I used hers. They are handy!

    1. Tami says:

I think Weight Watchers sells some measuring cups, ladles with long handles that people really like. It sure takes the fuss out of portion control!

  6. Cammy@TippyToeDiet says:

I know you’ll be glad to see your daughter and give her a real hug–not just a virtual one!

I have a little shot-glass measuring cup that I love. It’s perfect for making salad dressing, single servings at a time.

    1. Tami says:

I am looking forward to giving her lots of hugs!

Great idea to make single servings of salad dressing so it is always fresh!

  7. JANINE says:

first: yay yay yay, I know how happy you and Katy are going to be when she comes home on break. I’m already smiling in anticipation.
gadgets: ummmm, love ’em all. I use my Vita Mix a couple of times a day, food processor a few times a week, immersion blender several times a week, pressure cooker, rice cooker, veggie dicer, and can’t turn around without using lock and lock containers–they’re everywhere in my house: freezer, pantry, fridge, and counter top. I’m a gadget junkie.

    1. Tami says:

Yes Janine we are so happy! Thanks for being happy right along with us! 🙂

Your kitchen sounds well stocked with appliances. I don’t have a pressure cooker but I know they save a ton of time. I just haven’t gone down that path, yet!

I join you in being a gadget “junkie.”

  8. Morgan says:

I love that ladle/measuring cup – it would be perfect for my daughter who is a diabetic. Whenever we have soup or I make spaghetti sauce, we have a ladle, and then she has her measuring cups. That would make it easier. It is now on my list of things to buy!

One kitchen gadget that makes my life so much easier is my silicone garlic peeler – I was doing it by hand forever, and that little beauty saves me time and keeps my fingernails from smelling like garlic for days!

    1. Tami says:

I have seen those garlic peelers and wondered if they work well. Thanks for the review!

Hope you can find one of the ladles for your daughter, it sure makes like easier.

I love the NuNaturals products. I received them for free as well, and actually didn’t love them at first. I agree there is no aftertaste but at first I just didn’t like them….who knows why. I started using the baking blend and thought it really created a great product. Now I am using the cocoa and vanilla drops in my smoothies and the flavor is just amazing!! I can’t get enough. I will definitely buy them again once I run out.

  10. Jody - Fit at 53 says:

I missed this one but got to say that I LOVE LOVE NuNaturals!!! I got to do a review & giveaway a while back & hooked on the alcohol free vanilla stevia & love their baking stevia too!

Mothers Market here in CA sells it too PLUS free shipping on their website if you buy a certain $ amount & why not stock up for that! 🙂

  11. Debby says:

I am a gadget guru! I love all things kitchen.

I send cookies to my nephew in Iraq and I wrap them individually with Press N Seal wrap and then slip them into an empty pringells container. They arrive fresh and unbroken.
