The Best Reduced Fat Cheese and Crackers – My Pick- Cabot, Sargento, Laughing Cow Light & Ak-mak Crackers – Weight Watchers PointsPlus Friendly

Do you love cheese? It seems like most people do. I am not a big cheese eater but I do like to have a little and of course I use it in cooking. Our daughter is a huge fan of cheese. When she was in grade school one of her favorite lunches to take to school was a thermos packed with either sharp cheddar cheese or Gouda and crackers! So when I find a reduced fat cheese that meets her high cheese standards you can bet it tastes like the real thing!

I find all of these cheeses at Sam’s Club. Have some with fresh fruit and whole grain crackers for breakfast, lunch or a hearty snack. Cheese with apples, grapes or pears is so refreshing.

Cabot Sharp Cheddar 50% Reduced Fat Cheese snack bars. This is our favorite low fat cheese! Nutritional Information per individual snack size; 50 calories, 3.5g fat, 6g protein, 0g, fiber, less than<1g for carbs. WWPP 1

The individually wrapped single servings are perfect for portion control and packing in your lunch.

Sargento Reduced Fat Cheese Colby-Jack Snack Bars. This one is a little bigger and has more fat. Nutritional Information per individual snack size; 60 calories, 4.5g fat, og carbs, og fiber, 5g protein WWPP 2

Pop one in your purse with an apple for a snack on the go.

These little creamy, cheesy wedges come in a variety of flavors. I like to spread them on my bread, tortilla or Lavash for a sandwich wrap instead of using mayonnaise. It adds a nice creaminess and cheese flavor without a lot of fat. Let one melt over some hot veggies, add to a baked potato, spread over a whole grain toasted English muffin. Dip pretzels or apple slices in a cheese wedge, add to a bowl of hot pasta or go classic and spread the cheese on crackers.

Great stats.

These are our favorite whole wheat crackers. They taste great with whole grain goodness, sesame seeds and lots of crunch! My family has been eating these for as long as I can remember. They are sold in most grocery stores, Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods.

If you are following Weight Watchers you get 5 big crackers for 3 points.

Tons of flavor, protein, fiber, complex carbohydrates and it’s all healthy.

NUTMEG NOTES

Thank you for all the well wishes. I finally have my voice mostly back. It’s a bit raspy but at least I can talk! No new recipes going on here this week. I have been taking afternoon naps and spending time being a couch potato.  Today it just might be leftovers. We have to do that at least one night a week to make sure everything gets eaten.

Have a great weekend!

Tami

Cabot and Sargento are my favorite reduced fat cheeses. Good idea to use one of the clubs for value! Also, we’ve been AkMak eaters forever too, but I’d forgotten about them for awhile. Thanks for the P+ values – helps my feeble brain:)

    1. Tami says:

Hi Leslie! So good to hear from you. I popped over to your blog the other day, forgetting that you are taking a blogging break!

I hope you are enjoying your weekend!

I LOVE cheese, but I don’t think I’ve ever had Cabot. I love Laughing Cow. It’s great on crackers, in soups, and in mashed cauliflower. I I love the ak-mak crackers! I have to fast for a doctor’s appointment this morning and thinking about cheese made me really, really, really hungry…

    Have a great weekend!

Cabot is one of my favorites…but I have to give props to the WW line of dairy products too…they are surprisingly good!

    1. Tami says:

Renee I will have to look and see if we have any of the WW cheese products. Good to know they are okay.

Hope you are enjoying a nice weekend.

I eat a lot of Babybel Light. Costco now carries it. I like Akmak and love Triscuit Thins. I like Melba Toast too. Those are the healthier ones. I like Kashi TLC crackers but don’t think they are all whole grain and might add sugar. Of course I am “off” crackers right now:)

    1. Tami says:

Karen thanks for the information about the Triscuit thins I don’t think I have seen those. My daughter loves the Babybel cheese.

      Enjoy your weekend.

  8. Ann says:

OH MY! How I love cheese. Soft cheese. Sweet cheese. Tart cheese. Spicy cheese. White cheese. Orange cheese. Fruity cheese. LOVE IT!!!!!!

In fact I could and have made meals of crackers and cheese. I have to be careful for obvious reasons not least of which is constipation. But, I love it and I have all of the cheese you have pictured in my house right now! My kids ADORE cheese as a snack.

We got some blueberry goat cheese at Sam’s which is wonderful in a salad.

    1. Tami says:

Ann thanks for telling me about the blueberry goat cheese. That must be delicious!

I hope you are having a peaceful weekend.

  9. Jody - Fit at 53 says:

I can’t do cheese or milk stuff – lactose issues so.. BUT when I was younger & heavier, I ate swiss cheese like no tomorrow! :-)

As for crackers, a love/hate relationship so I don’t bring them in the house – even those yummy ak-mak. I still want to eat more than I should! ;-)

Bday get together for the oldest granddaughter this weekend. She is the oldest grandkid period. 12 years old.. where did the time fly!!!

    Have a great one Tami!

    1. Tami says:

What a shame you have lactose issues Jody. My son has some as well and it isn’t fun.

Hope you have a great time with your Granddaughters birthday celebration. I hear that being a Grandparent is a wonderful thing!

I must be out of the loop because I’ve never seen those snack size packages of cheese before! I don’t have a Sam’s Club by me, but a Costo – I’ll have to check those out. Thanks for the tip – I heart ALL cheese!!

    1. Tami says:

Jenn I have a Costco membership too but I haven’t looked for these there so I don’t know if they carry them or not.
      Have a great weekend.

  11. Carol says:

Love cheese but we have such a limited selection of any reduced fat cheese. The one I do by is by Kraft…Active something or other on the packaging but it is good. The one cheese I won’t eat is goat…too strong for me.

Cleaning day for me and odd jobs for Sunday so not an exciting weekend.

Sent you an email to your notebook address…question about the Quinoa burgers.

Enjoy your weekend & hope you & hubby are feeling better.

    1. Tami says:

Carol I answered your email this morning. Sorry for the delay. I didn’t feel well at all yesterday. This cold has blown up on me!

  12. Roz says:

HI Tami, glad you are starting to feel better. OMG, I LOVE cheese. We don’t get Cabot cheese up here in Canada, but next time I’m over the border I’m going to keep my eyes open for it. (I stocked up on flavoured laughing cow when we were in Seattle a while ago, I’m out…so may be time to do a road trip and stock up!) Have a great day.

  14. Wendy says:

Wow, I love this post for so many reasons! First of all, thank you for the Cabot love! The reduced fat snack bars are a staple in my family for sure – for me and for my teens.

Did you know Cabot is a coop owned by 1200 farm families? True! And 100% of the profits go to the farmers. So thanks from the farmers (and from all of us on the team) for the nice post and photos!

I loved reading all the comments! AND I am headed out to Trader Joe’s for those crackers. I recently read the package of my regular brand and I have to say… it’s time for a different choice. So thanks!

    1. Tami says:

Wendy thank you for informing me about the story behind Cabot cheese. I had no idea it was a coop owned company. It makes me love Cabot all the more!
It is hands down the best low fat cheese. It melts well and the taste is amazing!

Thank you for taking the time to leave me a comment. I hope you are having an amazing day!

      1. Wendy says:

I am! I hope you are too.
