Weekend Update & Crystal Light Pure Review

I received some free samples of Crystal Light Pure and I agreed to try them and post a review. I have to admit that I was skeptical of this new product. My beverage of choice is usually water. Diet soft drinks and artificially sweetened products were eliminated from my diet some time ago. So when I read about the Crystal Light Pure drink mix I was delighted to find out that they are sweetened with sugar and Truvia which is derived from the Stevia plant. Each box contains 7 portable packets of powder that can be added to 16 ounces of cold water-perfect for flavoring a bottle of water on the go! Note that each packet is considered 2 servings.

My favorite flavor is the lemonade. It was actually very refreshing! For 3o calories it would make a nice occasional summer beverage on a hot day. The Strawberry kiwi would be my second choice and since I’m not a big fan of grape flavored anything it came in last. The lemonade flavor is more tart which I prefer over the very sweet flavor of the other two.

I like that these don’t have any artificial flavors, preservatives or artificial sweeteners. The coloring comes from carrots, hibiscus flower extract or tumeric.

I would buy the lemonade flavor to keep on hand. Since I usually don’t drink diet sodas and such it would be a nice alternative to take with me when we attend summer events. It can be added to any 16 ounce bottle of water, shake and you have an instant fruit flavored beverage! Water is still my beverage of choice but this would be fun now and then.

I experimented a little and discovered that the lemon flavored packet made an awesome frozen lemonade! In the Blendtec blender went 1 cup cold water, 1 packet  Crystal Light Pure Lemonade flavored mix drink, 1 1/2 cups ice cubes and 1/4 of a fresh lemon – with peel. Process until slushy. It could even be thinned with more ice or water as it had tons of flavor. Tastes like summer!

Slushy with little bits of real lemon!

A Product Review is when I have received a product for free and asked to try it and post about the product. I have not been compensated in any other way for this review. As always you get my honest opinion about any product I try.

Nutmeg Notes

We enjoyed a long weekend by mostly unplugging from email, blogging, facebook and texting! So much can be accomplished when we do that. We had one day of nice weather so we made an early morning dash to Home Depot and filled our trunk with this.

We had fun digging in the dirt and planting our flowers.

Hopefully the May showers will result in June flowers!

The Small Change Challenge starts tomorrow! There has been an awesome response so far and I’m excited that so many of you want to join in. Remember the challenge isn’t just about weight loss, it’s about making small changes to your healthy lifestyle. Maybe  you want to cut back on sweets, increase your veggie or fruit intake. Perhaps change your work out, increase the distance you walk, run or how many times a week you exercise. You decide what small change you want to make. We will cheer each other on and celebrate our success!

Prizes for the Small Change Challenge

I have added another prize! Now there will be three different prizes up for grabs for everyone who completes the 4 week challenge. Bob Greene’s 20 Years Younger book, a gift bag of  some of my kitchen items and the Clean Eating Quick & Easy Meals cook book! It’s going to be so much fun! Sign up today!

Tomorrow is a going to be a big day around here! Not only is it the first day of the challenge but I have other big news to share. Be sure to stop by and read tomorrows post! I am sitting on pins and needles today with excitement and anticipation!

To Your Health,

Tami

Add Your Thoughts

Do you like to dig in the dirt, plant flowers or a garden?

Do you every feel the need to unplug from all or some of the social media?

Sometimes all of the email, facebook, twitter, blogging and such feels like sensory/stimulation overload for me. I find unplugging from everything to be rejuvenating.

Dirt – no, hate it. Wish I liked to garden; I’d love the fresh veggies. Unplug – yes. I tend to ignore twitter a lot and my blog’s facebook. But I sure do spend lots of time in the blog world!

I don’t have a veggie garden but I love to plant flowers! Last year I had tomatoes in a pot on the patio and that was fun.

I am really cutting back on the amount of time spent in the blog world. There are so many things I want to do right now and not enough time for it all!

Sounds like a nice weekend! Unplugging once in a while is so important!

And I love to dig in dirt! I’m getting the toddler more and more involved in my planting projects which makes it even more fun!

My kids enjoyed growing things when they were small. We had so much fun watching things grow and then get to eat them! Fun times!

My husband’s got the green thumbs around our house. I just tell him what to plant! :) Your garden must be so pretty with all the new additions!

Sometimes I leave my iPhone at home and get kind of panicky when I’m out. I never realized how many times I reach for it! It’s actually a very freeing experience. Now if only I can unplug from the computer…

    1. Tami says:

I do like to have my phone with me when I am out! Funny how we get use the feeling of security it gives us!

I do like to unplug from the computer and just engage in life! :)

I LOVE to garden. Looks like it’ll finally be warm and dry enough to do some container planting this weekend! YAY! Looking forward to the small change challenge Tami! Have a great day.

    1. Tami says:

We usually plant flowers in April but this year it has been so wet on the weekends that we have had to wait. At least now we have a start!

The challenge is going to be a lot of fun and it’s just the things I need to get back to a happy weight! :)

I definitely feel the need to unplug and it scares me how many people seem to be so addicted. I think this is why I love camping so much. I will have to try this crystal light. Thanks so much for the review as I have eliminated the fake stuff from my diet as well.

  8. Carol says:

Hi Tami….great idea on the unplugging for the weekend! I don’t unplug but usually just do my morning hello on my board and then not back on till evening. We’ve been installing windows so that has kept me busy.
Hope we get the Crystal Light Pure but kind of doubt it as Truvia isn’t in Canada yet.

I use to love gardening but now Bryce looks after the vegetable garden & I do the flowers…no kneeling!Your flowers are beautiful!

I know how you are looking forward to tomorrow!! My lips are sealed!

    I didn’t enter your challenge being from Canada… :(

  9. Debbi Does Dinner Healthy says:

The lemonade looks awesome! Love the flower pictures too!

  10. Helen says:

I think that if we don’t learn how to unplug, there’s a real and present danger of forgetting how to actually live our lives. It’s sad really because all of our gadgets and technology can be a wonderful thing. But again, everything in moderation, right?

I’m working diligently on the patio flowers still. It usually takes me until at least the end of June to get things just the way I want. And even though I only have my patio, my pots of flowers and veggies make me happy and give me something to unwind with and tend to a bit after work.

  11. Ann says:

I LOVE dirt and gardening. We have blooms on our tomato plants already and baby peppers coming in. I spend lots of time on facebook with “real life” friends, but don’t have a blog site. Love your flower pics.

  12. Cammy@TippyToeDiet says:

My internet died on Sunday evening, and I have to say…I rocked my to-do list! :) I don’t use Twitter/FB very often, but the blogging and responding and writing fiction chews up a lot of time. :)

Thanks for the review! That lemonade looks like a nice refreshing beverage for the summer!

  13. Daughter Katy says:

Hey! When are you going to make me one? :-)
