Sorbet & Berries

Sometimes simple ideas turn out to be the best! We had guests for dinner last night and to make it easy on myself I served store bought sorbet with fresh berries and a plate of Lemon Coconut Bars.

Two flavors of Sorbet are so much more fun than one. I went with strawberry and lemon.

Great stats on the sorbet! A perfect cold treat that is fat free, dairy free, cold and yummy!

I learned this awesome serving tip from my friend Linda on how to serve frozen treats to a group of people quickly and easily. Earlier in the day prior to serving time, line a muffin tin with cup cake liners. Scoop up the frozen treat and fill the muffin tin with as many scoops as you need. Cover with plastic wrap and place tin in the freezer. I used my large cookie scoop. Three of these size scoops are just about a 1/2 cup. When it’s time to serve, pull out the muffin tin, use the liners as your serving utensil to drop the scoops into serving dishes. Brilliant! I did a mix of single and double scoops.

Nutmeg Notes

I had started this post this morning but then we decided to go out for lunch and I didn’t have time to finish it. I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend. Its a short work and or school week!

Just chillaxin!

Do you have a fun kitchen tip to share?

What frozen treat do you prefer?

I kind of like them all, ice cream, frozen yogurt, sorbet and sherbet! I prefer low fat and low sugar types.

I’m not a sorbet or sherbet fan. Love ice cream. Love the fro-yo places that I can pile on yummy toppings. Like gelato too.

I use the muffin tin for freezing sauces as well. It works great for portion control. 🙂

I like all manor of frozen treats, but I mostly have fro-yo. I keep saying I’m going to try the single-sized Haagen-Daaz or other brands of ice cream. I just haven’t gotten tired of yogurt yet. LOL

    Great idea Tami!

My favorite ice cream treat are the new mini drumsticks. Just enough ice cream to satisfy! My next favorite is the reduced fat Dulce de Leche ice cream made by Bryers.

What a great idea with the muffin cups! I love, love, lemon sorbet, I am just not a sweets person so never think of it.

Glad you had a nice weekend!
