If you celebrated Christmas I hope it was everything you wanted it to be. We had a lovely day with our family. We enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by yours truly with lots of help by hubby Tom. Everyone pitched in to help with clean up – many hands make light work. I love all of those old sayings – they are things that my mom and Grandmother would always say and they have stuck with me!
I decided to try The Field Roast – Celebration roast for Christmas dinner. It comes frozen so it needed thawed out the day before. The directions say to baste the roast with broth or oil and season with herbs before roasting it so I gave it a light spray of olive oil and sprinkled it with a little herbs de provence. It’s already cooked so it just needs a little heating up.Verdict – loved it! It was actually delicious and something I will purchase again. Hubby Tom also enjoyed it.ย If I would have had more time I think a mushroom gravy or a cranberry chutney would have been a nice addition. Look for it in the freezer section of Whole Foods or your health food store.
To work off some of those holiday calories we drove to the foothills and went for a wonderful 3 mile nature walk. Many other folks had the same idea as us and it was fun to see and greet people on the trail on Christmas. About half a mile or so down the trail we were pleasantly surprised by this decorated tree! Talk about an unexpected delight – how cute is this? We had to wonder who would take the time to decorate a tree out on a hiking trail?

What’s the best thing you have eaten this past week?
Did you get any exercise on Christmas day?
Andrea@WellnessNotes
Glad you had a nice Christmas, Tami! The celebration roast sounds very good.
We had a wonderful time at the beach on the Central Coast. It was extra special as my parents made the long trip to visit us. On Christmas Day, the older kid and I went for a long walk along the beach. It was a great way to get exercise and catch up with my “big baby!” ๐
Wishing you a happy & healthy New Year!
Tami
Andrea your time on the beach with the family sounds wonderful! Those memories last a lifetime and are better than any gift that comes wrapped. Happy New Year to you and your family. ๐

What a wonderful holiday Tami!!!!! I saw a news story on someone decorating in the desert too & people did not know who was doing it – how fun & what a wonderful surprise for you!
Have a wonderful New Years!!!!
Tami
How fun that someone was decorating in the dessert as well. I love this idea! Happy New Year to you! ๐
Lori
We did a bit of walking on Christmas, but it was sooooo cold! It wasn’t even 20 degrees, so not conducive to a really long walk.
Happy New Year!
Tami
Brrr – now that is what I call cold Lori! Happy New Year to you and your hubby! Best wishes as you make the move into your new home. ๐

the field roast was definitely the “in food” this holiday season. Some of my vegan friends in Florida and Maryland said they were sold out everywhere. Since finding them, one friend has already bought hers for Easter, just in case. ๐
I went for a nice long walk on Christmas day, and it was wonderful. I had thought about going to the gym early that morning, but decided to hold out for the walk. I was glad I did, because when I drove past the gym, it was packed! LOL
Tami
They did tell me at Whole Foods that they run out of the Field Roast products every year so I purchased mine back in November. Guess I should buy more as soon as they get some in! So glad you got out for a walk on Christmas day. ๐ Happy New Year!
Biz
Congrats to the winner! I like you Tami, but I am going to have to skip that “roast.” Glad you liked it though!
Tami

Tami – I can’t wait to get the Pyrex Portable! ๐
I took Christmas Day off from my regular exercise routine. If our weather was better, I would have forced the hubs to take a walk with me, but alas, it is too cold and snowy here. I was right back at it the next day though – up early and on the elliptical, so I think I did pretty good only taking one day off.
I lost track of all the yummy, good food I had in the last week. I kept reminding myself that it’s only two days out of the year (Eve and Day) and to just enjoy them and get back on the wagon on the 26th.
Happy New Year!!
Tami
Great job on the exercise! Happy new year!
