We have a large variety of grocery shopping options in California. However, we know that is not true for those of you who live in other states. There does seem to be a lot of Walmart Super Centers across the country. We recently received some requests to do a grocery shopping trip to Walmart. We can’t wait to share with you all that we found there.
We actually went to Walmart just to look around and see what they had but we were so impressed by what we found that we ended up shopping there! This was a Walmart Super Center that has the grocery store. Not all Walmart stores have a full grocery store. Not all Walmart stores will have a large section of organic produce. If you have a Walmart nearby it is worth taking a walk through the store to see what they have. Walmart has on line shopping as well for curbside pick up. That would be another way to see what kind of produce they have.
We made this video to show you what we bought at Walmart. We also went to Costco and Whole Foods to pick up a few things and we shared those as well.
Watch me batch prep 14 salads using ingredients we purchased at Walmart.
They had plenty of organic produce to choose from. It all looked very fresh and we ended up buying it for our batch prepped chopped salads.
We found a wide variety of organic produce including mini sweet peppers, celery, cucumbers and shredded carrots.
The shredded kale looked amazing – very fresh and had very little stems in the package.
Tom loves celery in his salads and his Dump Soup and sometimes organic celery doesn’t look very good but this one looked amazing so we bought it.
Tomatoes for our batch prepped salads – we got the last two containers. They were delicious.
Gold potatoes are my favorite – what a good find. Perfect for Garlic Mashed Potatoes.
Plenty of organic fruit to choose from too. Including oranges and grapefruits which you don’t always find at other stores.
Not every store carries plantains which are a favorite of mine and the grand kiddos!
There were organic selections mixed in with the conventionally grown produce as well. Be sure to look around at everything not just the section designated as organic.
Plenty of winter squash to choose from. See my blog post all about How To Prepare Winter Squash.
Pre – washed individually wrapped potatoes ready to microwave – a good option when traveling.
Perhaps you prefer a ready to cook sweet potato.
These are ready to steam!
Not much organic in the frozen vegetables but plenty of conventionally grown frozen items to choose from. Some name brands as well as the Walmart store brand.
Frozen fruits in abundance.
Perfect for smoothies and nice cream.
We took a trip through the regular aisles to browse for plant based options. There was a good selection of gluten free pastas to choose from.
Canned beans including some organic.
Ground flax and cacao powder – wasn’t expecting to see these at Walmart.
We use this all the time in recipes.
Real Organic Maple Syrup.
Yes that is Date Lady Date Syrup. They also have her date sugar but were out of it on that day.
Organic spices as well as dried herbs.
Organic Bob’s Red Mill Oats.

Our WALMART IN Georgia doesn’t have any of that stuff. That was beautiful. I am fortunate though to have a local Sprouts store.

I live in Lincoln, CA and I’m wondering what Walmart you shopped at? I enjoyed seeing all your finds plus I’m always trying to save money on groceries!

I’m glad you checked out Walmart. Where I live in Fallon, NV, we have Safeway and Walmart. I do most of my shopping at Walmart, since they have much organic produce. I also buy organic soy milk there.
Another store you might want to try is Grocery Outlet. They have organic produce, an aisle long of organic products, frozen organic fruit and veggies, and frozen plant-based meals. We don’t have one where I live, so when I do a big shopping trip I go to Grocery Outlet, Costco, and Trader Joe’s. I do have to drive 1 and 1/2 hours each way. Thanks for sharing.
