You all know how much we love our Holland Bowl Mill wooden bowls that are made in Holland Michigan. Holland Bowl Mill takes pride in the fact that none of the wood goes to waste. They have an amazing line of wooden utensils that are made from the wood left behind from making bowls. I don’t know about you, but I have always used wooden utensils in my kitchen, especially with my nonstick pans. The Holland Bowl Mill wooden utensils are of the highest quality just like their bowls. When you have the right tools in the kitchen it makes cooking easier and more fun. Cooking utensils can be made from a variety of materials, wood, plastic, silicone and metal. Each material comes with it’s own set of pros and cons.
Unlike plastic utensils, wood utensils won’t melt or break on you. They can stand up to a thick batter or for scraping out every last little bit in the bottom of a pan. They are friendly for your non stick surfaces as well. The Holland Wood Bowl utensils have been sanded to create a smooth edge that will glide over your non stick pan surface. Wood doesn’t conduct heat so the wooden utensils stay cool, unlike metal utensils. Holland Bowl Mill link. There is a wooden utensil to handle most jobs in your kitchen. From a ladle for Hearty Lentil Vegetable Stew, a large serving spoon serving up Cumin Black Beans or Chili Taco Lentils. A sturdy wooden spoon to stir up a batch of Quinoa Banana Oat Muffins or dishing up a healthy slice of Perfectly Peachy Pie with style, using a gorgeous wooden pie server.

Tom’s favorite is the wooden Rice Paddle to distribute his batch prepped rice into containers for the freezer. It works like a charm and he loves the feel of the sturdy handle. I like it for my Oat Groats that I also batch prep. The holes in the handles are a nice feature if you want to hang your wooden utensils up in your kitchen for a beautiful display. These wooden utensils make awesome gifts for the foodies in your life! Holland Bowl Mill link. I love the curved wooden spatula for creating easy, no oil, stir fry in a hurry in a nonstick pan. The smooth edge is perfect for getting any little browned bits of onion or mushrooms off the bottom of the pan. I have also discovered that silicone spatulas do not work well in my stainless-steel pans for no oil sautéing, as they won’t glide over the pans surface. However, these wooden utensils work beautifully in those same pans. Holland Bowl Mill Link. Click on Shop at the top of the page and then select, wooden utensils from the drop-down menu on the left.

Tips on caring for wooden utensils. NEVER put them in the dishwasher! A dishwasher will ruin your wooden spoons. The heat and moisture can cause them to warp, crack or splinter. It will strip them of their natural oils, making them look dull and dry. Holland Bowl Mill link. Always wash wood utensils by hand with warm soapy water as soon as you are done using them. Do not leave them sitting in the wash water. Wash them promptly, rinse and dry with a cloth towel. When your wooden utensils start to look dull or dry give them a rub with a food safe oil, like mineral oil. Food grade mineral oil will help preserve the wood and keep them looking great.
