My Favorite way to freeze food in perfect portions is by using Souper Cubes. I use Souper Cubes to freeze everything we batch prep for the freezer. As you know I love to batch cook not only for the week ahead but for meals down the road as well. That is where the freezer comes in and Souper Cubes make it so easy. You can freeze everything from grains, beans, soup, stew chili, lentil taco filling, Hearty Lentil Shepherd’s Pie, Lentil Loaf, lemon juice, tomato paste, vegan cheese sauce, salad dressing, hummus, pesto, broth and so much more.
Souper Cubes come in a variety of sizes. From 1 ounce to 2 cups and cookie dough size too! To Order use our affiliate link for Souper Cubes. How To Use Souper Cubes
Make your freezer friendly recipes. Let them cool slightly then pour to the fill line of your Souper Cubes. Put the lid on, label the container so you know what is in it – once frozen it’s more difficult to discern what the frozen brick of food is! Souper Cubes can go right in the dishwasher for easy clean up.
These are Chili Taco Lentils – they freeze well. I love being able to pull a single serving from the freezer. You can bake right in the Super Cubes if you want to. The trays are oven safe up to 415 degrees Fahrenheit. The lids are not oven safe.
How To Store
You can keep the frozen food in the Souper Cubes if you wish to. I don’t do that because I need to use my Souper Cubes to freeze more food. Once frozen, which takes about 24 hours for the 2 cups size, I take the Souper Cubes tray out of the freezer. Let it sit on the counter for about 2 minutes. Turn it over and using my thumbs pop out the frozen brick. Place it in a freezer bag. Be sure to label the bag before putting it back in the freezer. You can stack the bags or put them in plastic freezer bins standing up. When you subscribe to Nutmeg Notebook you get some subscriber only recipes and the Curry Ginger Butternut Squash Soup is one of those recipes. Be sure to check your junk email folder as the email with the recipes often ends up there.
How To Heat & Eat
This is my Hearty Lentil Shepherd’s Pie recipe. It freezes so well. I made individual pies – so easy and convenient.

I just got my Souper cube set, so your video was perfect timing. You did a great job, Tami, explaining everything about them. Also got the email that Souper Cube will be on Shark Tank on February 19th! I’m sure they must get a good deal.
Thanks for all your videos as I transition to WFPB lifestyle.

I love the idea of making the Lentil Shepherd’s pie in individual 2-cup cubes. What’s the best way to reheat in an oven? For the two of us, do I reheat directly as frozen or do I allow to thaw out first? What temperature and for approximately how long in the oven? Thank you so much for inspiring us!
Tami Kramer
Hi Donna,
I think you asked me this on Facebook as well and I answered you there but will answer here as well in case someone else has the same question. I reheat mine in the microwave. But I think you could try 350 degrees in the oven and just reheat until it is hot in the center. If you thaw it out first it won’t take as long and might result in a better outcome but since I haven’t tried that I can’t say for sure how long. Just keep an eye on it.
Happy Cooking.
Tami
