This is the vegan Caesar Dressing that my family requests for every get together! It’s garlicky, thick and creamy with a little tang. Our son told me it’s so good I should bottle it and sell it. My family are pretty picky eaters so this is high praise from them. If you want to win over your non vegan family and friends, make this dressing for your next gathering.
You will love how easy this recipe comes together in the Vitamix blender.
With it’s thick and creamy texture it does a wonderful job of clinging to salad greens.
When people first adopt an oil free lifestyle they think they will never enjoy a scrumptious salad dressing again. I love showing them how easy it is to make healthy creamy salad dressings in a Vitamix Blender.
If you would prefer a Nut Free Caesar Dressing I have you covered and it is also oil free and very tasty.
For a different flavor profile try Creamy Balsamic Dressing. It is very popular in the plant based community.
All of these healthy salad dressings are enjoyed by everyone, even if they don’t eat plant based and oil free. Good food is good food!

I usually make a double batch of this salad dressing so we have leftovers to send home with our family. If you want a nut free Creamy Caesar Dressing I have one that is made with tofu.
My favorite salad mixture for the Caesar Dressing is, romaine lettuce, Persian cucumbers, red onions, shredded carrots, thinly sliced red onion and little tomatoes. We also add a little freshly ground black pepper. I dress the salad just before serving.
People tell me they eat more salads because of this Caesar Dressing! I love that.
Of course the Ultimate Vegan Caesar Dressing salad is perfect with my families favorite and often requested Vegan Mushroom Spinach Lasagna. We also like to top the Caesar salad with Garlic Chickpea Croutons.

The Caesar salad can be a side salad or a main dish.
To make it a main meal add some Garlic Chickpea Croutons and some BBQ Tempeh. To make the BBQ Tempeh I cube 8 ounces of tempeh, combine it with 3 tablespoons of BBQ sauce and bake on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper in a preheated 400 – 425 degree oven for 20-25 minutes. Delicious! You can sub firm tofu for the the tempeh.
I get most of my spices from Local Spicery – what a difference in flavor and quality. Milled in small batches so they are incredibly fresh.

Lori
Sounds great. How long will it last in refrigerator? What are the calories for one serving?.
Tami Kramer
Hi Lori,
We usually finish the dressing within 4-5 days but it might last longer then that but it’s always gone by day 5 around here! I don’t provide nutritional information for my recipes but you could enter the recipe into one of the free on line nutritional calcualtors to obtain the information you desire.

My husband said this dressing is amazing! He never comments on dressings so I will definitely be making it again.

Tami is right, this dressing is fantastic! My 6 year old granddaughter just ate 2 helpings of salad with this dressing on it and she typically isn’t crazy about salads.
Thanks for sharing the recipe!
Michelle Lemus
This sounds great!
I was wondering if you can taste the kelp granules in the dressing. I don’t care for a sea/fish like taste.
Thanks.
Tami Kramer
Yes you can taste them as they are standing in for anchovies that are typically used in the SAD version of Caesar dressing. Leave them out if you object to that flavor. It will still taste amazing!
Linda Smith
What brand do you use for kelp grandules?
Tami Kramer
Maine Coast Sea Vegetables and I buy it at Whole Foods.
Mary Riley
This is a delicious dressing that I make often. It hits all my requirements for a decadent and satisfying creamy rich dressing. I’m a salad lover from way back, and when I first transitioned to WFPB eating, I was worried I wouldn’t like salads without mayonnaise or oil bases. But with Tami’s recipes that is not a problem! Thank you so much Tami for your efforts to bring us delicious recipes.
Tami Kramer
I’m so glad this recipe fills a need for you. It does make salad taste incredible! Thank you for your review!
Mary Riley
I forgot to add stars to my review. I’d give it more than 5 if I could!
Tami Kramer
Thank you Mary! I made three double batches of this dressing in the past week for three different celebrations! People love it!
Denette
Holy moly Rocky, that’s good stuff! Would it be wrong to put a straw in the jar and slurp it down??!! I used cashews since that’s what I had on hand.
Karen A Jacobs
I LOVE this Caesar no oil dressing! I was loving your creamy balsamic and Ranch dressing, but decided to try this dressing and now this is now my favorite! Thank you for your creativeness and bringing joy to my life!
Tami Kramer
Hi Karen – thank you so much for your kind comments. This is my families favorite salad dressing too!
Terri
I think I may try making this one more time, The first time it came out to be too high in the nutritional yeast flavor, However, everyone seems to rave about it.
Tami Kramer
HI Terri – The flavor of nutritional yeast varies from brand to brand. Some do have a stronger flavor. Cut back on the amount you use or try a different brand and see if that helps. It is a very popular dressing recipe, but we all have different taste preferences and some people don’t like the flavor of nutritional yeast.
Janis
I had high hopes for this because of all the great reviews, but I really debated about adding those dates. Well, I should have gone with my gut and left them out – or at least tasted it before adding them. It was entirely too sweet! I couldn’t find my kelp granules, but it doesn’t seem like that would have made the difference – I assumed it would just be a creamy garlicky dressing. I tried to counteract the sweetness by adding more nooch, garlic powder, and salt (I’m not completely salt free) but it didn’t help much. I just got my Holland bowl and my greens are ready to go, so hopefully I’ll feel differently about it after it chills. The consistency was great, if a little thick – so I may try it again, leaving out the dates.
Janis
Well I have an update sooner than expected. After it chilled, it was definitely better but still too sweet for my taste. I tested it by dipping lettuce tips into the container and was so happy with the creaminess of the dressing and the crunch of the lettuce that I ended up eating a few cups of it right out of the box – lol! I will make this again – but no dates 🙂
Pam
Hello! Thank you for sharing your recipe! It looks delicious and I am going to try it tonight 🙂
I was just wondering if you have a recommendation for a sub for the kelp granules? I don’t have any right now, but wanted to try the recipe anyway. I googled replacement ideas, and found some sub with miso or soy sauce? Or would you think just leaving it out would be better? Also I’m assuming that the kelp adds more saltiness, so if leaving out completely would you recommend adding more salt?
Thank you for your help! Can’t wait to try it!
Tami Kramer
Hi Pam,
I think you can just leave it out – they replace the fishy flavor that anchovies give the traditional Caesar dressing. Taste it and decide if you need to add salt. Salt is such a personal preference type thing so just make the adjustment that tastes best to you.
Happy Cooking!
