Simple and sweet. That is how I would describe this little recipe. Fruit is nature’s candy and it is perfectly lovely all on it’s own but, sometimes I like to dress it up a little especially if I am serving it to company. There is something so comforting about serving warm fruit. It seems to bring out the natural sweetness even more and it warms us up from the inside out.
This simple recipe takes advantage of frozen organic fruit. It couldn’t be any easier – no washing, peeling or cutting up fruit. If you keep frozen fruit in your freezer at all times you can pull this together at a moments notice. I like easy. We hope you enjoy this short video showing you how to make this. Of course when peaches and cherries are in season feel free to use fresh!
Although delicious served just like this you can also serve this warm fruit compote over banana nice cream – frozen bananas pureed in a blender with a little plant milk and vanilla. Balsamic Cherries & Peaches is delicious over pancakes or waffles too. Serve over vanilla plant based yogurt and top with some granola.
You can use your favorite reduced balsamic and different flavored balsamic vinegars change the flavor. So far I have tried and liked Napa Valley Naturals Grand Reserve a plain low acidic vinegar and California Balsamic’ s Fig balsamic and their Pomegranate. It is important to use a sweeter low acidity Balsamic for this recipe as we are looking for that sweetness. A little freshly grated nutmeg over the top just before serving the warm fruit compote is delightful. A little Nutmeg Grinder and some Whole Nutmeg is all you need!
