I announced recently that I am part of Dr Greger’s How Not To Die Cookbook team! I received the How Not To Die 2018 calendar that contains many of the recipes from his new cookbook that will be coming out on December 5, 2017. As a part of the team I will be trying these new recipes and blogging about the recipes and sharing my photos on social media to help spread the word about how tasty and easy it is to follow a whole food plant based diet aka WFPB.
In addition to the calendar I also received Dr Greger’s Daily Dozen refrigerator magnet. His How Not To Die book is like the WFPB guide book that we all need.
Today for lunch I made the Chickpea & Vegetable Tagine. It was super easy and really delicious. It is flavored with warm spices like ground cumin, turmeric, cayenne pepper, cinnamon, ginger and lemon. I served it over quinoa that I made in the Instant Pot Pressure Cooker.
I won’t be sharing the actual recipes I try unless Dr Greger gives the cookbook team permission to do so. I would encourage you to pre-order the How Not To Die Cookbook. The recipes are going to be easy, flavorful and health promoting! I am sure this cookbook will become a favorite for every whole food plant based household.
The fifteen leading causes of premature death – illnesses like heart disease, cancer, diabetes, Parkinson’s, high blood pressure and many others can be prevented by our lifestyle choices. One of the biggest choices we make repeatedly each day is what we eat. Food can either be health promoting or disease promoting. All of Dr Greger’s lifestyle suggestions are backed up by strong scientific evidence. You will learn what foods to eat to achieve the biggest benefit for your health. Don’t we all want to live a long and healthy life? Be sure to check out Dr Greger’s website Nutrition Facts.Org for the latest up to date medical and nutrition information.
Why not give a gift that promotes a healthy lifestyle to all of your family and your friends. I feel like this way of eating has been kept a secret for too long and we need to share what a difference this way of eating can make for everyone’s health. A whole food plant based diet free of oil promotes a healthy heart and has been proven to even reverse heart disease. You read that right it can reverse heart disease! Choosing the right foods can lower cholesterol levels, improve or reverse type 2 diabetes. Science also has shown that it can prevent certain cancers!
This lifestyle choice also makes it much easier to lose weight and maintain a healthy weight. I can tell you that being thin is a lot more fun than being over weight! Tom and I both enjoy the benefits of a slimmer and more healthy body since we adopted a whole food plant based diet. Our adult children have also followed our lead and our granddaughter eats this way too!
Help me spread the word that our life style choices make a huge difference in our health. Share my blog post, order the cookbook and share it with your loved ones, write about it on your own facebook page. We need to get the word out to more people and it’s going to take a grass roots effort to do this. You can make a difference!
I am very excited to share that I now have an Amazon Shopping page where I list many of my favorite things that help me with this lifestyle. When you purchase products through my Amazon link you help support my work here and on You Tube without any extra cost to you! Thank you for your support. https://www.amazon.com/shop/nutmegnotebook
Wishing you a healthy and happy holiday season!

A Little Nutmeg Nugget: When I started this blog in January of 2010 I followed what I understood to be a healthy version of the standard American diet, ironically also known as the “SAD” diet. As interest in my own health and how it was affected by the food I ate evolved, I transitioned to a whole food plant based diet also known as “WFPB” diet. I have wrestled with the fact that this blog still contains all those posts and recipes from the SAD way of eating I have left behind. I no longer advocate for anyone to eat that way. At this time I am leaving those recipes and posts here. It is a record of my journey and how I came to follow a WFPB way of eating. It is my hope that those who still come here for those old recipes will be curious about what I am doing now. Perhaps they will dip their toes across the line as I did and try some plant based recipes and learn more about the health benefits.
I love hearing from you dear readers! Feel free to leave a comment or ask a question.
