Jump to RecipeOne thing that sets the Ninja CREAMi apart from the other ways of making vegan non dairy ice cream is that it turns out a frozen scoopable product instead of a soft serve. It can turn almost anything into a smooth and creamy yet scoopable frozen dessert. Incredible!
A few simple ingredients can be turned into something that tastes gourmet. The Cacao Chips are from Trader Joe’s and are unsweetened. Feel free to sub your favorite chocolate chips.
I am still amazed every time I make my plant based ice cream in my CREAMi at how incredible the texture is. The flavor of this recipe is amazing and it is such a treat to eat.

Ninja CREAMi Hints and Tips
Fill your CREAMi pint container to the maximum fill line.
You can make super simple versions simply by using canned unsweetened applesauce or crushed pineapple in its own juice put in the CREAMi pint jar container up to the fill line.
Put the lid on and be sure to label it. I use these Dissolvable Labels from Amazon. Make sure the containers are on a level surface in the freezer so they freeze level. Be sure to freeze the pints for 24 hours. They need to be frozen solid before spinning.
After freezing and before spinning, if needed, level off the top with a spoon to make it an even surface.
Letting the frozen pint sit on the counter for 5-10 minutes before spinning helps it be creamy rather than powdery after just one spin. But sometimes you will need to re-spin to get is really creamy.
After spinning, if it is powdery looking, put it back on the machine and use the re – spin function.
For Mix – INS use a small spoon and make a 1 1/2 inch well from the top center down to the bottom of the pint, add your mix in items and put the pint back on the machine using the MIX IN function.
If you have left over ice cream go ahead and smooth the surface with a spoon to it to make it level, put the lid on and freeze it again. When you want to eat it, let it sit on the counter for 5 minutes and if you have about 1/3 of the pint left or more, spin using the same setting you used for it originally. It will be like brand new ice cream!
If you have less then 1/3 of a pint of left overs, let it thaw a little and serve it up. Enjoy!
It is so scoopable and looks like regular ice cream. You might also enjoy a drizzle of our Vegan Chocolate Sauce – just 3 ingredients.
I love a scoop of the PB Banana Chocolate Chip ice cream on top of my Chocolate Cherry Brownies. So satisfying and yet very healthy. This was my birthday treat and it made me so happy!
I mixed up my Chocolate Fudgesicle recipe and used it to make CREAMi ice cream and it is fabulous. It makes 2 pints plus you will have a little leftover. You can make a couple fudge popsicles with the left overs. I added a tablespoon of chia seeds to the remaining mix in the blender and gave them a whirl and we had fudge pudding – scrumptious!
Substitutions:
Bananas – try oven roasted Japanese Sweet Potatoes or Hannah Yams, peeled and mashed

Peanut Butter Powder – natural peanut butter, or you choice of nut butter
Leave out the peanut butter or peanut powder and have a banana chocolate chip ice cream
Cacao Chips unsweetened – your choice of chocolate chips or cacao nibs
Ninja CREAMi Vegan Peanut Butter Banana Chocolate Chip Ice Cream
Ingredients
- 4 to 5 very ripe fresh bananas peeled
- 1/4 tsp vanilla powder or vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup peanut butter powder PB2 Pure, no salt or sugar or 1/4 cup peanut butter
- unsweetened plant milk as needed. I use JOI oat milk
- 1/4 cup unsweetened chocolate chips – I use Trader Joe's unsweetened Cacao chips
Instructions
- Break bananas into the CREAMi pint container and mash with a fork, add the peanut butter powder or peanut butter or nut butter of your choice, add the vanilla powder or vanilla extract and stir well to combine. If the mixture is not up to the maximum fill line add more banana or a little plant milk and stir well. Smooth out the top of the mixture to make it level.
- Put the lid on the container, label it and put in the freezer for 24 hours. Be sure the pint container is level so the mixture will freeze level.
- When frozen all the way through for 24 hours, remove from the freezer and let sit on counter for 5-10 minutes. Put the CREAMi pint onto the Ninja appliance following manufactures instructions and use the light ice cream setting. If the mixture comes out looking powdery put it back on the Ninja appliance and use the re -spin setting.
- To add the chocolate chips using a small spoon, make a 1 1/2 " wide well in the center of the ice cream all the way down to the bottom and pour in about 1/4 cup chocolate chips. Put the CREAMi pint back on the appliance and use the Mix In setting and it will incorporate them through out the ice cream. Scoop and enjoy!
- If you have at least 1/3 of a pint of left over ice cream smooth out the top so it is level. Put the lid on and put it back in the freezer. When you want to serve it again you can spin it and it will be like freshly made ice cream! Enjoy!

Dominique
Hi Tammi. In your post, for mix-ins, do you mean 1 1/2 inch (instead of 1/12 inch ?. Thanks for this recipe.
Tami Kramer
Hi Dominique
Yes 1 1/2 inch – thank you for catching that error. I will fix it.
Live Well, Tami
Chloe
How thick or thin should the mixture be before freezing? Is a paste to thick or should you be able to pour it out of your blender into the creami pint? Is there a “best” consistency or thickness?
Tami Kramer
Hi Chloe – please watch this video of me making it and that will help guide you. https://youtu.be/RRfa3oWd0IE
